Post #88 - Calgary Flames "Back To Black"

Part two for the Calgary Flames.

YouTube

Home & Away: The home and away jerseys feature a striping pattern meant to resemble fire. Black is back, baby, and featured prominently on the home jersey, while somewhat limited to an accent color on the away. The colors on both the stripes and primary logos also purposely follow the same sequence.

Third: The 90s-era Flames hem striping returns on this third jersey as both hem striping and sleeve striping. The use of the striping on the sleeves was to both avoid the mess that was the shoulder/sleeve design of those original jerseys while adding more consistency.

Alternate: In the previous Flames post I shared the red and yellow version of this jersey, mentioning that it looks a lot better with black. What do you think?

Alternate: Somewhat of a reverse-retro of the old white Flames' jersey, some might call this black for black's sake, while others might call it trash. Where do you stand, person who isn't here because no one is reaidng this?

Alternate: Finally, I wanted to make a faux-back-style jersey with a logo that seemed like a far-too-simplistic logo. However, the logo, coupled with the design of the jersey, wouldn't be all that surprising as a Chinese national team jersey. Sadly, what gets lost on this design is the clever sleeve design that is a Flames-inspired interpretation of the flag of Alberta. Even the old Atlanta Flames logo appears on the coat of arms, in this case being an "A" for Alberta. Look up "flag of Alberta" and you'll see where my inspiration came from.
